Symbiotic RelationshipsParasitism: In this ecosystem is ticks loves lions. The tick drinks the blood of the lion, and will most likely give it a disease.
Mutualism: The grassland has many animals such as the gazelle. The Birds are on the back of the gazelle and eat the insects. The birds get food and the gazelle is free of bugs, so they both benefit from the situation. Commensalism: Three words, Hyena and Lion. The Hyena looks for the bodies from leftovers of the lions after they are done eating. The hyena finds food because of the lion, however the lion is not affected at all. Predation: Lion and gazelle: The lion stalks the unsuspecting gazelle for its food. |
Competition Competition occurs in the Savanna just like competition would occur for us. There is most likely competition between the Lion and Hyena because they both eat the same food, such as the Wildebeest and the Topi (seen above). |
EndangermentThe ecosystem is home to the world's largest land mammals, however several of these huge species are endangered. The black rhinoceros population numbered just over 4,800. These huge creatures, which weigh as much as 3,096 pounds and have three horns are hunted for their medicinal value in several cultures. Between 1970 to 1992, more than 96 percent of the population was killed for their horns.
These rhinoceros aren't the only ones loosing there habitats. Lion populations are most threatened by habitat loss and diseases related to climate change. |
